Driver Friday

So I decided to get a new driver for myself. (For those of you that don't know what a driver is--its just a really big golf club.) My previous one was really old, and I didn't want to spend a lot so I figured I'd look on eBay after checking out some stores in the area that were way too expensive.

I found the driver I wanted, and I won the auction last night. The driver has a suggested retail price of $360, but I got mine for $32.99! It was shrinkwrapped and brand new, and they even included a headcover. (I also ended up winning an auction for new putter grips from the same eBay store, but that's boring.) The eBay store ships its stuff out of Raynham, which is about a half-hour south of us. Luckily I arranged to pickup the club and the grips at their physical address so I didn't have to pay $11 for shipping.

So after we picked up my club and grips this evening, we were coming home on the highway around 7 PM since my softball game was at 9. It was very ominous because the farther north we got, the sky kept getting darker, and darker. And wouldn't you know it...the heavens opened, and all of the sudden on Highway 93, it was End Times. In about 5 seconds (not kidding) we drove into a HUGE storm. Lightning, thunder, crazy wind, sideways rain--the works! I got off on the next exit and took a backroad because the rain was so hard I couldn't see anything on the highway. It was freaky. Suffice it to say that my softball game was cancelled--AGAIN. Go figure. God just needs to take it easy on Boston during Friday evenings from now on...

Evey's First Round

So once again Friday comes around, and BOOM! Thundershowers. Of course, my softball game was cancelled so that sucked. It seems that the weather is nice during the week, but once the weekend comes around--the crappy rain hits.

We didn't really have plans for Saturday until Evey persuaded me to take her golfing Friday night. "Even TAMMY has been on a real golf course!!!" So I gave in (weather pending). We decided to go out to breakfast the next morning in Lexington then hit a Par 3 course nearby. The course, Stone Meadow, has a driving range, a putting and chipping green, and a VERY short 9 hole Par 3 course. So we hit a bucket at the range, then it was off to the links. None of the holes were over 100 yards, so this was almost more like a "pitching" course than a Par 3 course.

Evey hit some good shots (and some not-so-good ones) and ended up shooting a 55. Not bad for her first time out, although she was really disappointed because none of the holes were long enough to hit her driver off of the tee. I ended up playing the course with only my 55* wedge and my putter, and I shot a pretty junky 33. It should've been much better than that. The longest hole was 98 stinkin' yards! The total yardage was 577.

So after that, we kind of felt shorted. Evey pushed to find another Par 3 course that was longer that we could play in the afternoon (so she could hit her driver). So we looked online and found Lost Brook Golf Club in Dedham which has an 18-hole Par 3 course. Much nicer. I actually had to use more than two clubs. Evey played much better and hit a 3 or 4 very straight drives off of the tee and ended up shooting a 59. (The yardage on these 9 holes was 1481.) I played really well and had a 3-wood on hole 3 to within 2 feet of the cup for my only birdie. I shot a 33.

Now, you may ask, "Chris, how did you shoot a 33 on 9 holes that are 577 yards long, then turn around and shoot the SAME score on 9 holes that are 1481 yards?" You got me. It tells me that I REALLY need to work on my game inside of 100 yards. Evey only shot 4 strokes higher on the longer course, so she really improved from the first 9 holes as well. It goes to show you that the old adage still holds true: "Drive for show, putt for dough."

Busy Weekend

Is it Tuesday already? I had all intentions of posting Sunday evening and somehow I never got around to it.

Belle's tail is doing better. We took her bandage off so that air can get at it to help it scab over. She will still need to wear her cone on her head when we leave her home for probably another week or so.

We had a great weekend. Friday night Chris and the guys from church had softball. It was HOT HOT HOT outside. They ended up losing 9-6 but it was a fun evening. After the game we all went out for burgers. I should probably also mention that Chris went 3 for 3 with a homerun.

Saturday we went out for breakfast to IHOP. We haven't gone out for breakfast in so long. Later in the day after running a bunch of errands we met Amy and Troy at the movie theatre near our house and we saw Pirates of The Caribbean:Dead Man's Chest. I really liked this movie, perhaps even more than the first one. I can't wait for the 3rd one to come out. After the movie we went to the driving range with A and T and I was not having a good day hitting the ball. It was very frustrating. Later in the day Chris and I decided to go for a drive and ended up having dinner at a place called Bickfords Grille. It was a beautiful night, we sat outside on their patio and there was live music and everything.

Sunday afternoon we had lunch with our friends Jeff and Carolynne. We went to Chicago Uno's and we had a nice lunch, we always enjoy our time with them. After lunch Chris and I headed over to Good Time Emporium to check it out. We ended up spending the whole afternoon there playing games and watching the Mariner's game on one of the big projection screens.

Last night we went to the driving range again and I was hitting the ball very well. I enjoyed myself and was proud of how well I was hitting the ball. Our power also went out last night which is one of the reasons we went to the range. It was so stinking hot in here we needed to get out. By the time we ran some errands and got home the power was back on. THANK GOODNESS!!

A few things from my ride home today on the Subway.....It reeked on there today, most likely because of this darn heat and everyone sardined together and sweating. A lady got on the train with her 3 friends and had the back of her dress up in her underwear. I felt horrible for her, luckily she noticed and fixed it. Have you ever noticed the way people wear their baseball caps nowadays? Like 2 sizes too big, crooked, the bill completely flat with the size sticker still on it....I don't get it and I don't think I ever will.

As usual blogger doesn't want to post my pictures for me so I will just go ahead and post them below. I don't really have a good hair picture. The ones I do have I didn't really do my hair that day, but you get the idea.

We'll Call Her ConeHead Jones

Who you ask? My dog of course. You see about a month ago Chris and I came home one day and after I let Belle out of her kennel I noticed there was blood on my pants. It was very odd but we couldn't figure out where it was coming from. As each day passed there was more blood, on our clothes, on the walls etc. We finally figured out it was coming from a cut on the very tip of Belle's tail. We have no idea how the cut originally got there but we assumed that everytime we were leaving her alone she was getting at it and making it worse. We took her to the vet on Monday because it was not healing, in fact it was getting worse. He bandaged her tail up and gave us a cone for her head to prevent her from getting at it when she was alone. She did fine till we actually left her alone for the day on Wednesday. We got home and she had enough room to get at her tail, get the top of the bandage off and bite at her wound. Chris rebandaged it and we set out yesterday to find a bigger cone for her head with no luck. The size bigger than what she has is WAY too big for her neck. So now we are back in the same predicament. She does have a follow up appointment with the vet this afternoon, so hopefully he can figure out what to do.

I decided yesterday it was time for a haircut. It was getting too long and too hot for this time of year. So off I went to the salon and had her cut around 5-6 inches off. It feels SO much better. When I got home we colored it Midnight Ruby.

Chris has softball tonight. That is if it isn't rained out since it seems to want to rain here a lot lately. They have had 2 games rained out, won the 2 they have played and last week got a win by default because the other team didn't show up. So hopefully after tonight they will be 4-0.

Chris and Evey's Sunday Getaway

Today Chris and I decided to go for a drive somewhere new and enjoy the beautiful day. The one thing I love about living here is that you can drive an hour and be somewhere amazing on the water and feel like you are a million miles from home. I love it. Anyways.....Today we decided to go to New Bedford, which is in southern Massachusetts about an hours drive from our place. We left a little later in the day and got out there around 3:30 pm. We decided to find some cute little place to have a late lunch. We found a place called Davy's Locker right on the water over looking Buzzards Bay and we sat outside on the patio. We both had a garden salad and a turkey club for lunch and it was very good and cheap which is always a bonus. It was so nice to sit outside and enjoy our lunch while watching all the sailboats and yachts go by.

After lunch we drove up the road a little bit to Fort Taber State Park. We took lots of pictures and had fun walking all over and exploring. I love the ocean and I love just sitting out on the rocks and watching and listening to the water and waves, I find it to be so peaceful and relaxing.

We decided to leave to go and get some ice cream and then come back in time to watch the sunset over the water. When we got to the ice cream place we found out they only took cash and we didn't have any. We set out to find an ATM, which we did but decided to put the ice cream off for a little while and instead headed to the "historic district" of New Bedford. It was kinda weird because being a Sunday night and all most things were closed and there was no one around. All the streets in the historic district are cobblestone which looked really neat. After walking around there for a while and taking some more pictures we decided to head back to Fort Taber to watch and get some pictures of the sunset.

The sunset was beautiful tonight and Chris got some good pictures of it. After walking around and doing some more exploring we went back and sat on the rocks for a while. We hit up the ice cream stand on the way out of town and boy was it good. Perfect end to a wonderful day.

Blogger for some reason doesn't want to upload any of my pics right now so I will just go ahead and load some through Hello under this post.....enjoy!!

Happy belated Canada Day and 4th of July to everyone. We decided this year to go into the city for the fireworks. The fireworks here in Boston are done over the Charles river and the Esplanade. The Boston Pops plays outdoors in the Hatch Shell and is broadcast over speakers throughout the whole area so everyone can hear it. It was pretty much the coolest fireworks show I have ever seen, I am so glad we decided to go. Here a few pics we took....
We spent the day today working in the yard. And now are heading out to do some errands and probably grab some supper. I hope everyone is having a great weekend:)

Don't reach for your glasses, adjust your screens or reset your computer this is really me Evey.

Where have I been you ask? Well in a nutshell we have been super busy these last couple of weeks. Chris is busy with work as usual and I have ventured out on a little something of my own. I am really excited about it and I will be sure to tell you all about it in the very near future. All I will say is that this is my newest client.....We had our immigration interview which was so lame for something they made me wait so long for. Regardless it is all done and over with and I am so happy I don't have to deal with the government for another few years.

As Belle informed you all (you should know that Chris wrote that not me, I can't take the credit)she had her trip to the vet. She is all vaccinated and is good to go in that department till next year. For those of you who were asking what her blood work was for, it was just routine tests for heartworm and lyme disease.

Saturday Chris and I went to the zoo. I love the zoo and this one is super close to our house. We had a nice afternoon walking around looking at all the animals and taking lots of pictures. My favorite was the gorillas and the baby gorilla that was born in 2004. It is so amazing to watch them and how they interact with each other etc.I will post some more pics on their own under this post. Enjoy. And I will be sure to be visiting all you sometime in the next day or two:)
