Evey's Greatest Brain Farts

Chris feels it's important that once a week I should post about some of my ultimate blonde moments (lets remember I have brown hair), so I said why the heck not. So we will start things off with my top 5 since he has known me. I would love to tell you them all right now but he won't let me. So you will just have to keep coming back to find them all out. But for now here is number 5.....

Chris and I were driving one time and to pass the time we were thinking of stupid games to play. So he decided to quiz me to see how many American states I could name off the top of my head. I decided the easiest way to rattle them off would be alphabetically. So away I went naming states as I got to the letter U I was stumped. Not stumped in the sense I knew there was one but stumped in the sense I was convinced there was no state that started with the letter U. After a significant amount of time had passed and I still was convinced there was no such thing, Chris finally said to me "UTAH honey UTAH." immediately I was like "OH YEAH, DUUUUUUUH!"

Kerry Park

Recently some friends of ours back in Seattle got engaged, coincidently they got engaged at the same place we did....Kerry Park in Seattle. I really suggest checking that page out and looking at the panoramic views on there, its beautiful. I read a great write up on it this is what it said...

"Folks come from far and near to enjoy the panoramic view from this tidy little park nestled on the south slope of Queen Anne. Joggers, sweethearts, newcomers, natives. Tour buses make regular stops, and local and national news teams use the lovely vista as a broadcast backdrop. Years ago (1927), Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sperry Kerry, Sr. donated the block after the city of Seattle promised they would never build on or in front of the property. On a clear day, neighbors pause and picnic to watch the sunrise or sunset in glorious Technicolor. You can relax on the wooden benches while Seattle's morning sky transforms from dark to pink to blue, or watch the evening sun reverse this palate.

When you glance southeast, the Space Needle dominates the fabulous cityscape, Mount Rainier just to the right. Out in Puget Sound, vibrant orange lifts resemble giant preying mantises awaiting their next shipment of containers. A wide-angle scan exposes Elliot Bay with its ferry and freighter traffic, sailboats dotting the afternoon and weekend horizon. Straight across the Bay, West Seattle and historic Alki Beach await, and a tad more to the right, Bainbridge Island. At twilight, on warm summer evenings, the prisms of sunset bounce off downtown glass buildings, beaming the shafts back to the Queen Anne neighborhood. There's no playground, but people never tire of this quiet, but stunning vantage"

Mosquito's and Softball

I know I know, let me have it. I am the biggest blogging slacker around. I have no good excuse, so you will just have to forgive me anyways;)

In keeping with my feelings that mosquito's SUCK, last night the guys had a softball game. Once we show up at the field we come to the realization that at this particular field is where ALL of the mosquito's in Massachusetts live. ALL OF THEM!! I kid you not, it was horrid. Amy and I made a treck to the grocery store for some OFF and a citronella candle. They did work yes, but I feared all night that it was too late, the damage was already done. I awoke this morning to an itch on my side, thinking to myself damn things got me good right here. So I go into the bathroom only to realize that they got me good alright. Apparently they were really drilling for blood on my left side and must have been sending out signals for everyone else to come and join in. You see, I actually have a path of about 10 bites all in a row very close to one another. Never mind the ones I have everywhere else. I hate them I tell you.

Despite the west nile virus going around the guys had another good game last night. I think the final score was like 47 - 12 for us, or something like that. Fun times! The next game is at the same field, which now that we have all been there before I am sure that we will all be prepared for the mosquito convention that goes on there.

That's all for today folks, it is beautiful out today so I think we may head out with the dog to the water somewhere. Hope every one has a wonderful weekend.

Yummy Treats In My Mailbox

A few weeks ago I was chatting with Lori and was telling her how I missed Ketchup Chips and Smarties.....for my American friends I am not talking about what you all know as Smarties. Anyways Lori is SO wonderful she sent me a package with 2 bags of ketchup chips, 3 big bags of smarties (regular, peanut, and peanut butter), and some coffee crisps. What a gem she is, although I need to control myself cause I love them all so much. I hate we don't sell them here. Anyways THANK YOU a million times over Lori. Your treats are on the way soon!! Love you!

Talk About Foot in Mouth Disease

Ever say something and immediately wish a giant hole would open up in the earth and swallow you up? Well I am sure you have, sometimes I have those moments much more often than I would like. But no moment to this day was worse than this....

About 3 years ago or so when I was living in Vancouver I got a job at a Fire Restoration Company that I had initially heard about through a friends sister. This sister of my friend had this boyfriend that I had only seen once or twice. I came to the conclusion that he wasn't very attractive, and me and my friend wondered what her sister saw in him. Anyways after I started working at this new job I was talking with one of the girls, it turns out she knew my friend and her sister. She then proceeded to ask me if I knew of this girls boyfriend. Instead of answering with a simple "yes" I answered with this "oh yes, I know who he is. He is very ugly and his nose is HUGE, I am not sure what on earth she sees in him" And her response was this " yeah, I know him too, I am dating his brother.....His TWIN brother, they are IDENTICAL!" If there was ever a moment I wanted to be sucked into deep hole it was then. I didn't know what to say or do so I just mustered up the best smile I could, said sorry and walked away.

Moral of the story....Don't make fun of peoples boyfriends! LOL

Oh the Irony.....

Chris and I went out to Walmart on Sunday night and bought a new fan. It worked fine that night, but by Monday morning it was shutting its self off whenever it turned all the way to the right. So we had to exchange it. We pack it all up and head back down to Walmart to get another only to find that that kind is all sold out. So, we end up getting one of those tower fan things for the same price. We bring it home, Chris puts it together and we turn it on and well I guess it worked. But those things don't work well, unless of course your sitting directly in front of it. So yep you guessed it, it was back to Walmart to return it. No exchange this time, just took our money and ran.

We headed on over to Target, and wouldn't you know it they were sold out completely. We tried Home Depot and they were sold out. And all we were thinking is how the heck we were going to sleep last night with no fan. SO FINALLY we went to Walgreens, for my Canadian friends...Walgreens is a drug store.....To our surprise they actually did have fans, not the biggest selection, but at that point we didn't care. So bought a fan convinced it wouldn't really do the job, but at the same time thankful that we had found something.

As we are driving home and nearing our street we start to notice that everything looks really really dark. And well wouldn't you know it THE POWER WAS OUT!!!! How funny, after we spent all that time looking for a new fan and we didn't even have any power to run it. LOL. And for those of you who thought you would have wanted this heat wave we have been having your crazy. The extreme heat is what caused the power outages in the first place. It really has been insane. It is supposed to start cooling down this week, thank the Lord, I like to breathe. LOL Oh the irony of it all!!!

The good news was that they did have the power back on around 1am, so we didn't have a totally uncomfortable night with no fan. And to our surprise the fan we bought worked like a gem:)

Good Mail Is the Best Mail

I got a wonderful card (homemade card) from someone very very special today. It was so nice to get a nice surprise like that in the mail. Its also nice to be reminded sometimes that your friendship means as much to someone as theirs does to you. So thank you Lori for putting such a big smile on my face today. I love you very much!

Melting.....

We are melting, it is hot. Gross hot, not good hot. The heat isn't so much the problem, it's the humidity we seem to be having right now. Which for around here is odd from what we are hearing. The humidity is over 90% right now. YUCK YUCK YUCK is all I have to say. It only like 80 something, but with the humidity so high it feels like at least 100. Wrong I tell you!

So I'd like to rant about something for a minute. I'm not sure if you'll know who I am talking about, but there are these commercials we have featuring "hard, sexy abs" by John Basedow. Now first of all, it cuts to John. You'd think he'd be this super-hot hottie that has this great body....oh, how poorly mistaken you are.

He's not very attractive, and he's got two things that are really crampin' his style: one, his head is way, way too big for his body. We're talking "orange on a toothpick" type stuff here. "It's like Sputnik--quite spherical, but pointy in parts. He'll cry himself to sleep tonite on his gargantuan pillow." (If you don't follow, please see the movie So I Married an Axe Murderer. Classic Mike Myers.)

Secondly, on top of that ginormous noggin, his hair....hmmm....how to describe his hair. Well, you'd think he'd have a newer style--something spikey, nicely cut. Nope, instead he comes to the plate with this mess that looks like he is trying to go for "Game Show Host" hair, but he doesn't quite know how to get it right. Now I do have to give him credit--he does have nice abs. But seriously, he looks like a geek, the guy nobody wants to hang out with. The guy who wears those sweaters--you know, those sweaters.

The other annoying thing about his commercials is that when it cuts to him showing off his six pack, he leans back, just so the viewer can get the full effect, and he hooks the thumb of one of his hands on the waist of his blue spandex to pull it down a little bit (an artists rendering)--just enough so that he makes us believe below his waist is as firm and toned as above. First of all, I just don't need to see that. Second of all, anything you got going down there buddy, needs to stay down there. Quite unfortunately, you don't leave much to the imagination with them nasty spandex anyways.

I feel better now. I am sorry you had to hear that.

As some of you may know I am a huge music lover. I am one of those people who pretty much likes a little of everything...ok maybe not death metal, but you get the idea. I like a lot of Christian bands, I always have. I think maybe a lot of it comes from my brother who when I was growing up was into all the Christian bands, so from as far back as I can remember I was listening to it. Back then it was bands like Petra, Whitecross, Rez, Stryper, Vengeance Rising, Holy Soldier, Bride and Guardian. Some of which are still great bands that I still enjoy listening to.

These days the bands that are taking over the Christian music scene are Switchfoot, Relient K, 12 Stones, Kutless, Pillar, Everyday Sunday, Jars of Clay, Thousand Foot Crutch, Further Seems Forever, Delirious, Newsboys, Sanctus Real, Tree 63 and Third Day.

I think the awesome thing about Christian music these days is that it's breaking way more into the mainstream music scene. People are listening to a lot of this stuff and are not even realizing it is Christian. That is definitely awesome in my eyes.

One thing that drives me nuts is some people's attitude towards Christian music, they assume because it is Christian that it is boring. Yet I guarantee that you can find the equivalent to any band these days in the Christian music industry.

I have been listening to my Kutless:Sea of Faces CD a lot this week, it's a great CD. One of my favorite songs on it is a song called All of The Words. My favorite line in the song is.... "With all of the words in all of my life that could never explain and never describe
All of my love, which is nothing to hide so I lift up my hands and I worship You"

Anyways just some thoughts in my head this morning. There really are some great Christian bands out there, check em out!!

Farckle anyone??

I know I have been a huge slacker lately with blogging, but in my defense the weather has finally been beautiful and I have been spending so much time outside in the garden and such.

We had a wonderful relaxing weekend. Chris was on call but it was a slow weekend and he only ended up with a few service calls.

This afternoon we went out to the beach with friends from church, Amy & Troy and Travis & Becca. It was beautiful out, and I LOVE the ocean. After we left the beach we headed on back to Amy's and bbq'ed some Brats and stuff. THEN it happened, Chris and I were officially introduced to the world of "Farckle".. What is it you ask?? Well for starters its just darn fun to say...go on, try it. F-A-R-C-K-L-E.......SEE it's fun;) Anyways it a dice game and it was fun. I recommend finding out how to play it and doing so:)

YAY for the Floyd Clan

I am so excited that Susan (my sister in law) and my brother have finally created a blog. YAY! So please venture over to their blog and welcome them to the world of blogging. I don't want her to think I lured her into this crazy world of blogging for nothing;) And the fun thing is that now you can enjoy hearing about my nephews and seeing pics of them as much as I do:)
