Belle's "boyfriend" Wrigley is here spending the weekend with us while his owners are away in Iowa. When Belle and Wrigley are together it is WRESTLE MANIA! They wrestle and play NON-STOP. It is great for Belle to have another dog around to socialize like that with and we know they have so much fun. I just wish they didn't drink so much water when they are playing because we end up having to take them out a gazillion times a day to pee. Here are some pictures of them in action.
They like to get things started by singing some songs together
Finally after a good warm up they are good to go
They just look so vicious
Wrigley using his go to move--biting Belle's feet when she isn't paying attention to him
Finally winding things down
Hugs after a long and hard match

Welcome to my weekend:)

Peter Rabbit

We live in a basement suite so we don't have windows that Belle can look out. This makes me a little sad because she LOVES to look out the window. What dog doesn't, she could sit there for hours. So this past weekend our landlords were out of town and we were taking care of their dogs. Since we were up and down the stairs taking them to the bathroom and feeding them we decided to just go ahead and leave the door separating our places open. Belle of course took the opportunity to spend as much time as she could looking out the windows upstairs.

We have lived in this apartment for almost 4 years and I have NEVER seen any rabbits anywhere around here. But of course the weekend my dog has window access for extended periods of time there is a rabbit (or rabbits) in the yard ALL weekend long. He tormented her. I was certain she was going to have a mental breakdown. Of course I had to take a picture of him.

You can call me TV for short...

At least that's what little Grant Brown has decided my name is. I spent Thursday afternoon with my friend Carolynne and her little guy Grant. He can say my name just fine. You tell him to say Evey and he says Evey. No problem. But wait two mins and ask my name again and he says Tevey instead of Evey. Cute.

Quick, Everyone Get Divorced!!!

After seeing this headline at msn.com I have realized that Chris and I should just have the divorce papers drawn up ASAP.

This is why the media and ALL those rag mags are SO lame. Bickering? Are you kidding?

Ladies, PLEASE............

...put on a bra. Seriously! No one needs to see what you share with the world when you don't wear one. I mean why would you not wear won? Does it not just feel gross? Do you enjoy flowing freely for all the world to see?

Speaking of bras...is it just me or do NONE of them offer any real support?

Evey's Special Day

That's what Chris called it because I was so excited to go, just like a little kid:)

We had a great day. The weather was beautiful in the 70's most of the day. The drive was so pretty. We had never been to Vermont before and scenery was so pretty. Although Chris did make a good point that it will probably be much prettier once summer arrives and everything is in full bloom and green.

The drive up there took us a little over 3 hours. We stopped on the way though to have a picnic lunch. It was great to sit outside and eat with the sun shining and looking out at the green mountains. Not quite the mountains I am used to back home in Alberta but they were mountains regardless even if they were mini.
The factory itself was fun. The tour was only 30 mins long and was a bit of a bummer because they weren't actually making ice cream that day. We did get to see the big ole room where they do everything though and that was neat. I just wish there had actually been people working and we could have seen the ice cream on the conveyor belts and stuff. Oh well, maybe next time. We got to sample some YUMMY mint chocolate chunk ice cream. Chris of course pushed to the front of the line with all the little kids. We tried to assure him the ice cream in the back tasted the same as the ones in the front. He didn't seem to care, he wanted the ones in the front. And I'm the little kid? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!!

After we left Ben and Jerry's we hit up a cute little cheese shop--Cabot Cheese. We ate LOTS of cheese samples and bought some goodies. After that we decided to take a drive through the state capital of Vermont--Montpelier. Chris commented that growing up he never would have imagined himself driving through Montpelier, Vermont. I have to agree with him, one of those random places you never think you will go. Especially with my being from Western Canada and him the Western USA. Just goes to show that you never know where life will take you.

Off To the Ice Cream Factory

Chris and I are taking a day trip up to Vermont to go to Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory. YAY! I have been excited about this for weeks. Yippee!

Grumpy Old Man

The other day Chris and I were walking out of Starbucks and overheard an old man yelling on his cell phone.

"Who the hell does she think she is? She can drop dead!"

LOL! I don't know who he was talking to but he was mad. We couldn't help but laugh as we walked on by. Too funny!

Happy Birthday Doggie

Today is Belle's birthday. She is 5 and somehow still has more energy than Chris and I know what to do with. We got her a new toy, a new collar and a HUGE "busybone" which she has been eating for a little bit now and has barely made a dent in it. Oh and she is drooling. Funny!

Crosswalks?!?

Ok so I realize my absences around here are becoming more and more frequent. I really am sorry for that. Things just really haven't been all that exciting around here so I really haven't had much to tell you. Anything sports related goes over on our sports blog(cemcsports) so as not to bore you non sports fans. So really, that doesn't leave me with a lot to talk about on here these days.

But I think now that spring is here things will get a little more exciting. Seems when the weather is nice you get out more and have more stories to share. So with that being said I will get things started by talking to you about crosswalks.

Why crosswalks you ask? Well, let me tell you. Crosswalks are everywhere. They are on their own, sometimes they are with a flashing yellow light, sometimes they are at an actual intersection. What I have really been wondering for quite sometime is WHY do they even bother wasting the time painting those lines on the road here in Boston? Why waste the paint? Why waste the wages you will need to pay to the men to go out there and paint the lines on the road? No one bothers to stop for you when you are in a crosswalk around here so I really think they should just get rid of them all together. Save us all the hassle. I have stood at a crosswalk for 10 minutes or more because the traffic is so busy and NO ONE will stop to let me cross. I almost got hit 3 different times in one day last week whilst trying to cross the road. Do you think the mentally challenged drivers around here give a crap? Heck no. They honk at me like I have done something wrong. All I can do is shake my head and walk away. WHERE did these people get drivers licenses? Is it mandatory to be a jack ass if you are from Boston and drive a car? I guess the only logical answer to that is yes. The funny thing is that the very same jerks who almost hit you while you are in the crosswalk are the same morons who will get mad at you for not stopping for them in the crosswalk. OY VEY!!Perhaps this guy.....or this lady should come patrol the crosswalks in Boston. She...or he could get a whole crew together and kick some serious butt against all the jack ass drivers who won't let me and many other innocent citizens cross the street.
God bless Boston!!!

A-Rod Beware

For you non baseball fans let me tell you in short who Alex Rodriguez is. Mostly known as A-Rod, he is a 3rd baseman for the New York Yankees. A-Rod is probably one of the most hated players in all of baseball. He is hated greatly here in Boston since he plays for the rival Yankees. The other day a school class was having of tour of Fenway Park when a Red-Tailed Hawk (who had made it's home on a ledge, and had an egg in the nest) swooped down and attacked a young girl. Scary stuff. Yet funny when her name was released. The girls name is Alexa Rodriguez.

I guess A-Rod better watch out when he and the Yankees come to town this season.

New Kids Are Back!!

http://www.boston.com/ae/celebrity/articles/2008/04/01/new_kids_are_back/

I realize it is old news. But I just finally came to the realization that it is actually true. That the band that was oh so close to my heart for so many years is reuniting. I am excited mostly for nostalgic reasons. The very thought of it brings me back to my youth. To my poster plastered bedroom. Spending my allowance on Bop and Teen Beat magazines. Singing to the top of my lungs to every single song. They were so dreamy, yes I said dreamy. I along with every other girl swore the songs were written for us. Joey was always my favorite. He was just so little and so cute. *sigh*

You can laugh at me, I don't care. I know there are those of you who won't admit that you loved them too. But I loved them and I WILL go see them on their reunion tour and I WILL love it. I will go alone if I have to. I will be there waving my hands in the air and singing

"Oh oh oh oh oh, hangin tough"

On Broadway

On Saturday night Chris and I decided to go to a movie. There was not a lot we wanted to see in theatres except for Juno and No Country for Old Men. But both were playing at the downtown theatre and neither one of us could be bothered going into the city on a Saturday night.

There is a small community theatre in Dedham not too far from where we live. They usually play a lot of indie type films. Which I enjoy, sometimes when you allow yourself to get away from the big mainstream Hollywood film you find something special that you otherwise may have never had a chance to see. There happened to be a movie called On Broadway playing. We were intrigued by this movie when we read about it and learned it is a movie by a local writer/director. Most of the cast were Boston actors and the movie itself was filmed here in Boston.

The movie was about a guy from Boston (played by Joey McIntyre) who wrote a play about his uncle's death as a way to bring his family together and reconnect with his dad. Not being able to afford a proper venue he ended up putting on the play in the back of a local pub.

We both really really enjoyed everything about this movie. There is something amazing and pure about a movie made away from the lights of Hollywood. Something about it that allows you to have your eyes open to the true vision and passion of the filmmaker. The casting could not have been better and the writing was outstanding.

It actually turned out that the writer/directer of the movie Dave McLaughlin and actor Lance Greene were at theatre after the showing for a question and answer time. It was cool to have kinda just stumbled on that and been able to listen to the director talk about why and how they made the film. Turns out it only cost them 975 000 to make the movie and the filmed it over 20 days in and around Boston. These two things make the movie that much greater to me. Such a low budget and such little time to actually film is just amazing to me.

I really encourage any of you in the Boston area to check this movie out. They said it was playing at 5 or 6 different theatres in and around Boston.

Babies Galore

Congrats to our good friends Shawn and Celeste back in Seattle on the arrival of Caleb Owen Rothlisberger on Wednesday March 19th.

Congrats to our friends Amy and Troy from here on the arrival of Audrey Rose Douglas on Thursday March 20th. You can see pics HERE.
Ok so clearly I am still very much a big slacker. It really wasn't always like this. Crazy! This post is just for you Georgette so you don't complain about having to see Chris's sexy swollen lip anymore.

I thought Chris would have blogged about his weekend in Seattle last weekend but he has not not gotten around to it. So I will give you the quick synopsis.

His best friend Shawn turns 30 this coming week. But with a baby on the way his wife Celeste decided to have a surprise birthday party for him a week early. She also flew Chris out there as Shawn's big surprise. Chris flew out to Seattle Friday (the 14th). He spent the afternoon with his mom before heading out to Bellevue Friday evening. Celeste sent Chris a text to let him know they were all there at the billiard place and that they had already done the big surprise. So Chris called Shawn from outside just to chat. Shawn told him he was at a surprise birthday party Celeste had planned. Chris was like oh ok well I will let you go and talk to you later this weekend. Then he hung up, went inside. Luckily Shawn had his back to Chris and Chris walked up behind him and said "Or maybe I will talk to you right now." Shawn was very shocked. Fun times. Chris spent the night and all day Saturday at their house. Then Saturday night he went to meet his family at a restaurant for a birthday dinner for his brother Bryan. Bryan also did not know that Chris was in town. So he was also very shocked when Chris walked in. Chris spent that night at his parents. Sunday afternoon he went golfing with his friends Shawn, Brad and Travis. He had a great time. Chris only goes golfing once in a while out here so he was happy to be able to go golfing with friends. He flew home on the a red eye Sunday night. It was a quick trip but he had a great time.

I enjoyed the quiet weekend. Friday night I went out with a girlfriend and a few of her friends. We went to an Irish Pub downtown Boston and had a great time. Saturday and Sunday I just enjoyed being able to catch up on my tv shows Chris doesn't like, watched some movies Chris didn't care to watch. Drank some wine and watched some hockey with my doggie. I LOVED it.

That being said I was happy when Chris got home. As much as I enjoy my "me" time I did miss him.

I don't have any pics of Shawns suprise party cause Chris didn't take any pics. But I do have a couple from when he showed up for Bryan's birthday.

No I didn't punch him ;)

Sexy isn't he? LOL! That would be my husband and that would be his GIANT lip after having an allergic reaction at Chili's. We went to Chili's last week, Chris had a burger that came with onion strings. Turned out the onion strings had been cooked in the same deep fryer as fish products. For those of you who know Chris know that he has serious nut and fish allergies. Thankfully this time around it was nothing more than a swollen lip.

His burger was taken off our bill. Once we got home though and I thought more about it I was a little concerned at the "they must have been cooked in the same fryer as fish" statement. The outcome could have been much worse. If not for Chris, then maybe for someone else. I decided to send an email through Chili's website expressing my concern.

Today someone from Chili's regional office here in MA called me. We had a great conversation and he thanked me over and over for sending the email and bringing to his attention what had happened. Clearly it should not have happened. He also said he would be sending us some gift certificates in the mail tomorrow. Can't complain about that. Chris is still alive and kicking AND we get free food:)

Best Star Wars Review EVER!!

So I have been having issues with posting anything from YouTube the last few days. Anyone else? Not a big deal really, you will just have to click on the link and go there yourself.

I came across this video the other day and got such a kick out of this little girl. Kids are too funny. Personally I think she should be writing reviews or something for a paper. Click HERE for the link.

HAPPY 35th BIRTHDAY DAVE!!

On March 7, 1973 David Campbell Floyd Jr was brought into this world. 5 years later on January 3, 1978, Yvonne Angela Floyd was brought into this world and his life was never the same simply because he had the best little sister in the entire world. For 30 years he has picked on me, and called me names like Stinky and wee brat. But he has also been my friend and someone who has always supported me and been there for me throughout my life. And so on this day I thank you for being such a great big brother. Even though sometimes I want to wring your neck, I love you and I am blessed to have you as my brother. I hope you have a great day!!

Chuck E. Cheese

I love going to Chuck E. Cheese as much as the next person. Well as much as every 10 year old anyways. No really, I love it. Why wouldn't you? Arcade games, pizza, a giant mouse. And let's not forget the cool little prizes you get to buy with the tickets you win playing games. It's a good time, I promise. What isn't a good time is this...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080304/ap_on_fe_st/odd_brawling_moms;_ylt=AumqCyXX9tPrhCvmBoqO8YUuQE4F

Are you serious ladies? You have got to be kidding me. And to blame it on the fact the kid was hogging the game and your kid couldn't play. At least I would be woman enough to admit I was upset because I wanted to play the game ;) For real though, way to teach your kids how to act towards others if your not getting what you want. The thing that I found ironic about the whole thing was that this took place here in Massachusetts. You all know how I feel about east coasters and more importantly people from the Boston area. It's just how they roll out here.

**It seems spell check is back up and working. Although I have my doubts because it keeps telling me no misspellings have been found. Either I am getting smarter or spell check still isn't working right**

b, d or p...you decide

Chris was laying on the couch with Belle. She was laying on her side and her ear was flopped back and something caught his eye. Upon closer inspection he realized there was a small white letter stuck to her ear. It was either a little d, b or a p. Either way it was super funny. I have no idea where the heck she managed to find such a thing and end up with it stuck on the inside of her ear. Too funny!

One of things I love about watching Ellen is that she is always making me laugh. Lately she has been showing all sorts of funny infomercials on the show. I realize that there are those of you who don't watch Ellen and are not aware of some of these amazing products that she is introducing into our lives. So, I thought I would bring those commercials to you here so that you don't miss out. Please take a minute to enjoy the videos below :)

Get a Grip People

Why is the world we live in so freaking sensitive? Why is everything somehow misconstrued to mean everything and anything? Why is everything taken so literally that people turn NOTHING into something every time?

http://www.usnews.com/articles/business/your-money/2008/02/14/are-skinny-drinks-offensive.html

Starbucks introduced the "skinny" latte early in the New Year. What does this mean really? Well, for me it means that instead of ordering a Venti-Non-fat-No Whip-Sugar free-Cinnamon Dolce Latte, I can order a Venti Skinny Cinnamon Dolce. All it means to me is that I have to say fewer words. Why in God's name would that be offensive?

So all you out there who chose to make issues out of everything in life and think the world is out to get you go right ahead. As for me I thank Starbucks for helping me in my daily life by making me have to say fewer words when I order my drink. Starbucks, I salute you!!

Public Service Announcement

There is a Canadian stuck in the United States who is having terrible cravings for such candy as Smarties and Wunderbars. It is a sad time for this girl who cries herself to sleep at night because she cannot be with the candy she loves. I am not sure she will be okay without at least a little taste of her favorite candies. If you are from Canada and interested in donating some of these tasty treats to this sad girl and in the process helping make the world a better place, let me know and I will be sure you get her address;)
***I feel it important to note that Smarties ARE NOT M&M's. They are SMARTIES. Smarties to you silly americans are these...In Canada we call those Rockets and they are only sold at Halloween. Real Smarties may resemble M&M's but they are nothing like them. Smarties are bigger, have a harder and sweeter shell and the chocolate is WAY better.***

Wet, Sloppy, Disgusting Mess

Outside that is. It is GROSS out there. So gross in fact it makes me want to stay inside until it passes. The snow, the rain and the puddles. You know how it is when it snows and then the next day it rains like mad and turns all the snow into a big wet and slushy mess.

As a dog walker I don't really have much choice but to be out in this weather, it's my job. You do what you have to do. The rain doesn't bother me so much, that's what an umbrella is for. But what I hate is when I maneuver around puddles and think I am safe to step in what seems like only snow on the sidewalk but actually turns out to be a big, wet slushy puddle that covers your entire shoes. YAY!Add to that the fact I only had my running shoes on and they were sopping wet, and my feet were frozen. I was not a happy camper this afternoon. But now I am home and my shoes are in the dryer and my feet are once again warm.

And now I am going to retreat back to my couch and the warmth of a fuzzy fleece blanket.

Sticks are bad for doggies

Last week Chris and I had a little scare with Belle. One night we went for our evening walk and near the end she was running and playing with a stick as she always does. But this time she must have swallowed a small piece and either it was lodged somewhere or it just irritated her throat on the way down. She started hacking and gagging which at first wasn't that alarming. She has done that plenty of times but always cleared whatever was there out after a couple of times. Once we got in the house she immediately went and lay down in her bed. That was unusual just for the simple reason that after her walks she is always hyper and wants to play. She didn't drink water at all the rest of the night and in the morning was still hacking and gagging. When I noticed she hadn't eaten her breakfast that was when I got worried. Belle usually eats EVERY morning around 6 am before we get up. Chris wanted to just wait it out and made the point that she was not having trouble breathing or anything. We waited a few more hours and decided that we should at least take her in for a check up.

Of course the minute we got to the vet she was perky and happy and not hacking or gagging anymore. Go figure. He checked her out, listened to her lungs, made her swallow water and checked she was swallowing right. All was good. He decided all the hacking and gagging was probably due to irritation.

Needless to say, Belle doesn't get to play with sticks on her walks anymore. We bring a ball along now for her to run and chase.

An Open Letter to Dog Owners

To Whom It May Concern,

When I walk down the street and see a steaming pile of doggie doo doo it does not make me smile. When I am occupied doing other things and don't look on the ground with every step I take and I step in a pile of doggie doo doo it does not make me smile. I realize that picking up dog poop is not the greatest past time in the world. I do not enjoy it, but I DO IT. I pick up my own dogs poop and I pick up the poop of all the other dogs I walk. I do it because it is the RIGHT thing to do. Please tell me how anyone in good conscience can let their dog crap and not pick it up. Whether it be the sidewalk, someone’s yard or the middle of the road, PICK IT UP. It is NOT rocket science, I promise. You take a bag, scoop it up and voila--no doggie doo doo for all the good folks of the world to step in. And maybe, just maybe you will feel better about yourself for not being such a moron. Perhaps I could offer you a few ideas about how to remedy the problem if you really don't want to pick up the poop yourself.

For starters you could try this...

http://www.fellowlike.com.tw/en/?d=product3

It is just creepy and weird, but it's an option. Please take a minute to watch the demo video.

There is also this option. Now I am sure it would take a lot of your time and some serious commitment to train your dog to use the toilet in this fashion, but I am sure it is possible.
Last but not least you could give this a shot. How hard could it be? People can train their dogs to do all sorts of things, so why not pick up their own poop?

Seriously though, I wish you all would just suck it up and pick up the darn poop yourself. You don't have to like it but you certainly should have to do it. Next time you don't I pray there is a cop sitting nearby waiting to slap you with a hefty fine. And if that is not possible I wish a giant pile of doggie doo doo in your future, I wish you to step in it and slip in it. I wish for you to trail it into your car and your home. Maybe then you will realize how the rest of us who actually pick up our dogs poop feel.

Thank you so much!!

Hanging out in all the wrong places

I know people who have run into all sorts of people in their lifetime. Actors, singers, musicians etc. My run ins with such people have been few and far between. Although we did see Cindy Crawford at Disneyland a couple of years ago.

As most of you know Chris works for Starbucks. Most of the stores that he services are located downtown. About a year or so ago he went to a store and was told by the people working there that Jennifer Garner had been in just a little while before he arrived. Then a month or so ago he was sitting at a red light. A blonde woman was crossing the street, as she was passing right in front of his car all he could think was that she looked really really familiar. About 15 minutes or so later he finally found a parking spot and went into the Starbucks where he had a service call. Turns out the blonde that looked so familiar to him as she walked right in front of his car had just been in that very Starbucks getting a coffee. Turns out that blonde was Cameron Diaz. He missed getting to meet her by like 5 minutes. Then the other day he was working on a machine when he saw 4 Nashville Predators players come in. They were in town to play the Bruins that night. Jason Arnott, Radek Bonk, Greg DeVries and Alexander Radulov just happened to chose that Starbucks to get their caffience fix. As a big hockey fan it was neat for Chris to see them.

Moral of the story....I clearly need to hang out at Starbucks more cause all I ever see when I am at work is dog poop, the mailman and random crazy people.

**anyone else having problems with the spell check? Mine doesn't seem to be working, which is NOT a good thing for me.**
