POLICE--BLOG OFF FOR BREAST CANCER

When I was thinking over the past few days of what to write about I threw a lot of ideas around in my head. My first thoughts were what I do and don't like about cops. Like how I hate cops who abuse their power. You know the ones, the ones who speed and tail you. The ones who turn their lights on to get through the traffic light just because they think they can. Yet the same cop will not hesitate to pull you over for going a few miles per hour over the limit. But then there are the ones who actually do what they do for the right reasons. They risk their lives every day to help keep everyone else safe. Those are the ones I respect, the rest I could do without.

My thoughts then turned to my own personal experience with cops. But then I realized none of them were very exciting or interesting for that matter. A few speeding tickets and one not so fun run in with the law many many years ago. One that resulted in me wearing handcuffs, riding in a police car and spending a whole day in a holding cell. Fun times. And no I am not a criminal for all of you who are now worried and locking your doors, it was a lifetime ago. As I was thinking of my own encounter I was reminded of a an old friend of mine who had quite the encounter and realized his story was MUCH more interesting than mine so I decided I would share that with you instead.

A friend and I rented out Ed's (we will call him Ed to protect his real identity) basement suite. During the time we were living there we became really good friends with him. We learned all sorts of interesting things about his life and past. One thing we learned was that a few years earlier he had gotten involved with some shady characters who ran a "chop shop." Ed not really knowing what he was getting into went to work everyday like a normal guy, at the end of the day he went home like everyone else and every two weeks he got a paycheck. One day however when he was leaving for work his apartment was swarmed by police officers and he was arrested on 5 different charges in relation to the "chop shop." Ed who really didn't know a lot about the things he was being arrested for was very confused when he realized that he was the only one arrested. Everyone else had packed up shop in the middle of the night, cleared all items from their names etc... and left Ed to be the "scapegoat." Long story short it went to court and under the advisement of his lawyer he accepted a plea bargain to avoid jail time. Ed ended up with 2 years probation and 1 year house arrest. Could have been much worse, so he sucked it up and continued to live his life.

When we moved into his basement suite he was well past his house arrest and probation period of his life. He was working as a bartender and was a happy guy. He had however lost his drivers license to a past DUI. But as a bartender he worked late and needed a way to get home. So he got a car from a "friend" that had no registration or insurance and he drove that car to and from work everyday and all was good.....or so he thought. You see Ed was still at a place in his life where any other sort of trouble could land him in jail.
One night at about 4 am my phone rang. I let it go because I was sleeping and figured if it was important whoever it was would call back. A few minutes later the phone rang again. It was Ed and our conversation went a little like this...

Ed - "Hey, sorry to call you so late but can you feed Spike (name also changed to protect the cat’s identity) tomorrow?"
Me - "Sure, but why can't you?"
Ed - "Well I am not sure I will be coming home for a while."
Me - "Why what the heck happened?"
Ed - "I kinda got in a high speed chase with the cops."
Me - "YOU DID WHAT!?!?!?!?!"
Ed - "It is a long story, we will talk later."

Ed proceeded to ask me to bring him some clothes that he could wear to court later that day. So my roommate and I gathered his things and drove over to the police station. As we were waiting we saw Ed's very distraught looking girlfriend Rachel (name changed to protect identity) come out from one of the doors that led to the back. Assuming she was just there to see Ed we were shocked when we found out that she had also been arrested. And so she told us the story from beginning to end and it went a little like this.....

Ed had been at work like every other night. Rachel had been at his bar with some friends earlier that evening and decided to stick around and wait for Ed to get off work and just get a ride home with him. By the time he was all closed and cleaned up it was almost 1 am and they got into his car and headed home. The bar was in Edmonton and they lived in Sherwood Park and so like a lot of people they took the back roads to get home instead of the main highway. Ed being the mischievous guy that he was decided it would be fun to pull over on the dark secluded stretch of road and make out for a while. And so they pulled over. We won't go into details of that part of the story but let’s just say Ed was no longer clothed. Next thing they know they see lights behind them, Ed realizing it was a police car panicked knowing he was not licensed, insured or registered. For fear of getting caught with none of those things--as well as none of his clothes--and risking the consequences he would face he made a rash decision and as the police officer was approaching his car he hit the gas and was off. Naturally the police officer was also back in his car and off after them while radioing others for help. So there Ed was--naked, mind you--driving at speeds much too fast, running red lights and putting in danger the lives of him and Rachel as well as the police officers chasing him and the innocent people who may be out driving on the roads. After a chase of about 35 minutes Ed knew he had to get away, his plan was that they got far enough ahead of the cops and then dump the car in a field somewhere (since there was nothing to tie his name to the car). Before he had that chance he noticed police cars now coming up ahead and realized what was awaiting him. The spike strip police put out to stop cars in a situation such as this. Ed being the smart guy he is and knowing that driving over those would pop his tires and realizing that at the speed he was going it would probably cause him to lose control of his car and cause injury or worse to Rachel he made the smart decision to finally pull over and face the music. Naked.

Within seconds there were 4 officers surrounding the car. Ed was pulled from the car first--naked, of course--at gunpoint, thrown to the ground and cuffed. As Rachel opened her door to get out she was also pulled out of the car (fully clothed) at gunpoint and throw down on her stomach, cuffed and thrown in the back of a police car. At first I wondered why she was removed from the car with such force but then quickly realized that at the time those cops had no clue as to why they were running from the cops, they didn't know what weapons they may have had and they were just acting quickly to protect themselves. Rachel was held over night and questioned before they decided she had done nothing wrong and was simply just a passenger and so they let her go and no charges were filed. Ed however, was not so fortunate. I never saw Ed at home again for another 8 months. He was once again advised by his lawyer to take a plea bargain and plead guilty to 2 of the 10 charges against him and take a lesser sentence. So he pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle without a license and reckless driving. He was sentenced to 1 year in jail and 3 years probation and had his license taken away for 3 years.
Ed ended up serving 8 months of his 12 month sentence. One Saturday a month for 3 hours my roommate and I visited our friend Ed in jail. He was no longer naked. We sure missed having him around during that time. We fed his cat and took care of his house and we all had a big party the day he came home. He was a great guy who just made some really stupid choices. I don't talk to Ed anymore and haven't for a very long time but from what I hear he is doing well, married to Rachel and wears clothes often. And thank the Lord he has had no more run-ins with the law.

Moral of the story – DON’T RUN FROM THE COPS!!

Also to all of you reading this and have husbands who are cops and who are probably the kind I like, tell them thank you for what they do.

Weekend Ramblings

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I totally meant to post yesterday but I got caught up in a million other things and I totally forgot. But have no fear, I am here now to entertain you all. Ok well, I can't promise the entertainment factor but a post regardless.

Chris and I had a nice weekend. Nothing too exciting and most definitely relaxing. Friday we were out running some errands and decided to get some supper at one of our new favorite restaurants, The British Beer Company. Of course being British myself and being at such a place it was important I have a traditional British dish. So as if you couldn't guess, I went with the fish n chips. I actually had the same thing the last time we were there and boy was it good.

Chris was on call this weekend, but luckily after only 1 call we were able to go to the movies like we had planned. On the way we stopped off at our favorite burrito joint for lunch. I swear they are the best burritos you will get anywhere. If you are ever in Boston you NEED to check out Anna's Taqueria. After lunch we headed downtown to the theatre. We probably should have taken the subway instead of driving downtown on a Saturday and try to find parking. We lucked out however and found a meter not too far from the theatre.

Let me just say that you MUST go see this movie. Reign Over Me was the best movie I have seen in a very long time. When someone like Adam Sandler plays a role like this you always wonder "will they deliver?" Did he ever, he was amazing from beginning to end. There was one scene where he was talking about his family and crying and WOW was it powerful. And his tears were SO real, it was an amazing performance. Don Cheadle was the perfect balance to Adam and his character, they had great chemistry together. It is a pretty intense movie but they add just enough comedy to lighten it up a little. You will laugh, you will cry and I guarantee you will love it. It is an awesome story of a journey of loss and healing and is a great reminder of so many things.

Sunday was spent at home catching up on some house cleaning and some quality relax in front of the TV time. Speaking of TV, Chris and I watch a lot of shows on Discovery and Discovery Health channels. One of our new favorites is a show called Man vs Wild. It is crazy, he basically strands himself in all sorts of places. Each episode he is dropped off at a remote location such as the Costa Rican Rainforest and he has to find his own way out, find his own food and make his own shelters. He has nothing but a small knife and the clothes on his back.

"In each episode of Man vs. Wild, adventurer Bear Grylls strands himself in popular wilderness destinations where tourists often find themselves lost or in danger. Once there he finds his way back to civilization, demonstrating local survival techniques along the way."

So if you ever get a chance check it out, its a pretty cool show. You never know when you might be lost in the Alaskan mountains and need his tips to find your way out;)

Well, that's all for today boys and girls. The laundry won't do itself and the dogs can't walk themselves;) Have a great Tuesday, and be sure to tune in tomorrow for my second posting in the great "blog off."

Evey's lives to blog another week...........

We found out this weekend who will be continuing in the blog off. I am happy to say that I was not voted off the island....PHEW! So I live to blog another week. Our word for this week is "police." I have yet to decide on what direction I will go with this post but like I said last week, we will just have to wait and see what my clever mind comes up with.

Having to rank the posts sucked. I thought everyone did a great job. Two people were actually eliminated this week. You can check out their blogs and posts at
Super Duper Fantastic and Motivated Motion. While I think I can say we are all sad to see you go we are happy to have found new blog friends in you.

Chris and I were going to go see the new movie Reign Over Me this afternoon but decided to wait until tomorrow. I am really looking forward to see this movie. If you haven't seen the previews go check the trailer out HERE. It's about a guy (Sandler) who lost his wife and kids in one of the plane crashes on 9/11. I am really excited to see Adam Sandler in a role like this and Don Cheadle is always good. I will be back tomorrow with a review:)

LAUGHTER--BLOG OFF FOR BREAST CANCER

When I think of laughter I think of a lot of different times in my life. I think for all of us laughter has a a lot of the same meaning and importance. Who wants to live a life without laughter?

On November 21, 1996 my mum passed away from cancer at the age of 49 years old just 26 days shy of her 50th birthday. What does this have to do with laughter you ask? Well for me, it had a lot to do with it. In the months leading up to and after my mum passed away it was a very very hard and emotional time in my life. Sometimes however, you need something to take you away from all the crying and all the other emotions that come along with such events in ones life. I spent a lot of time with 2 of my closest friends, Lori and Tania. A lot of that time was spent laughing. Not really at anything specific, just laughing. In my personal experience laughter definitely can help you heal. Those nights spent laughing until my side hurt were so monumental in my grieving process and I am thankful I had friends who could bring that laughter into my life when I needed it the most.

What are your favorite kinds of laughter?

I love the purity of a child's laugh, it always makes me smile. I love the laughter that makes your stomach hurt so bad yet you just can't stop. I love when you are so tired that everything is funny, and once you start laughing there is no stopping it. I love the feeling of being with an old friend and being able to laugh together about old times.

No matter how you laugh, whether its a simple snicker or a laugh out loud split your gut outburst that has everyone looking at you, it tends to be contagious. And I think we all can agree it is good for the soul.

People say laughter is the best medicine, I tend to agree.

**I posted a little something below that I found on YouTube that definitely had me laughing, I hope it does the same for you. Enjoy!!**

Tuesday Ramblings

So tomorrow is the start of the blog off that I spoke about in my previous post. I am not the greatest writer under pressure and there is a good chance because of this I will be eliminated the first week. That is totally fine with me, I am just happy to be a part of something that will help raise money for such an important cause. Our word for this week is laughter and I will post tomorrow with whatever my clever mind comes up with.

Chris's parents are heading off to Arizona tomorrow for just a little under a week. They will fly from Seattle to Arizona tomorrow and spend some time with Chris's grandparents. They will also attend a Mariners Spring Training game and I am SO jealous. I sure love my Mariners. They then will fly over to the Los Angeles area to spend a few days with Chris's sister before heading home. Ah, fun in the sun.

I love movies. Chris and I have Netflix which allows us to always have movies coming and going. I am not one for politics, in fact I couldn't give a flying pig about any of that stuff. We had the movie Good Night and Good Luck for about 3 months and I kept convincing Chris to watch something else and it kept getting pushed to the side. Finally I decided we needed to either watch it or return it. We settled in to watch it and I was convinced I would soon head over to the computer due to total boredom while Chris continued to watch it. To my surprise I sat and watched the whole thing and even enjoyed it. It was done in black and white and the acting was very good. It was a true story and they made it as such. Sometimes even though movies are true stories they are not presented in a way that gives it that feel. It was a very well done movie and I am glad we ended up watching it.

Blog off for Breast Cancer

So since I am a big blogger slacker it was suggested by my friend Carly over at http://queeniecarly.typepad.com/ a while back that we challenge each other to blog something each day. She posted about it on her blog and in her comment section and idea was born that I am very excited to be a part of. Carly's friend Courtney is participating in the Breast Cancer 3 Day (http://www.the3day.org/site/pp.asp?c=pmL6JnO8KzE&b=2182495) for the second time to help raise money for breast cancer in honor of her mom. The idea was to have a "blog off," each participant would pay 10 dollars to enter and would be required to post something each Wednesday. Everyone would choose a topic. Each post would be about that topic and then ranked by the other participants. People will be eliminated each week until there is one blogger left standing. There are (I think) 19 participants so that makes the total pot 180 dollars. Half the pot (90) will go to the winning blogger and the other half will go to Courtney's fundraising. We start this Wednesday and I am excited to be a part of it even if it only ends up being for one week. The breast cancer issue is close to my heart as my mom had it and later had it return in another form which eventually took her life.

I know that it is too late for any of you to join in on the blog off itself but if you would like to still help support Courtney's fundraising effort please go to her 3Day page here....https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=202295&supid=125459871 and leave her a donation.

If there are any of you that really would like to enter the blog off let me know in the comment section and I will see if we can squeeze you in as a last minute contestant.

You will also notice I have changed our blog background. During the duration of the "blog off" I will leave this background up. I will post a link on the side to all the blog off participants.

Paramount Showdown

While Chris and I were driving in the car today we were reminiscing about a trip we took to Southern California a few years back with our friend Trish and her daughter. It was a fun trip, we drove down to Los Angeles and spent a week enjoying the sun and all the tourist attractions southern California has to offer. Of course we went to Disneyland, Universal Studios and spent a significant amount of time sight seeing in Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Bel-Air. Being that it was my first trip down there it was a very memorable one for me. But for all the things we did and saw nothing was more memorable than the afternoon spent at a friend of Trisha's house.

You see, when we first arrived down there the plan was to drop Trish off to spend the weekend at a friends and then Chris and I would continue on down to Palm Springs to spend a few days with his grandparents. Trish's friend lived in a place called Paramount which is part of the Greater Los Angeles area. Paramount is bordered by Compton to the west. For those of you who do not know of Compton it is know to have one of the highest violent crime rates in the United States. It is known for its gang violence, you may have heard of the street gangs the "bloods" and "crips." Not the most pleasant place in the world. When I realized where her friend lived I was a little scared to even have to drive through the area. We arrived mid afternoon and helped Trish unload her luggage. As we were unloading things from the car there was a car parked across the street and there were two young black guys hanging around. Chris and I decided that since his grandparents were not expecting us until later that day that we would have a nap and relax for a few hours before we headed back out for the drive down to Palm Springs.

Once we were in the house I realized I needed something that I had left in the trunk of the car. I didn't want to go back out because those guys were still hanging around and they made me a little uneasy. Chris was quick to tell me I was just being paranoid and stereotypical because of their age and the fact that they were black and the area we were in. I agreed with him and realized it was silly of me to assume every black male in the area was a gang member ready to shoot things up. So out I went to the car to get what I needed, as I was walking to and from the car I could feel them watching me. It was really creepy. Once back inside Chris and I settled in for a nap in the spare bedroom while Trish and Ashley got comfy on the couch.

I don't know how much time passed before we heard the loudest noise. Chris and I immediately were on the floor. All we heard was "pop, pop, pop, pop" !!!! There must have been about 10 of them. We ran out into the living room to peek out the window with Trish and sure enough the nice young guys who had been lurking around the car across the street were now jumping in the car and peeling off down the street, tires squealing and all. It was insane. Within minutes cop cars came tearing down the street and spent the next half hour or so walking around the property collecting stray bullets and checking things out. CRAZY!!!

It was insane. My heart was racing and I was terrified. I could not believe for the life of me that right across the street there was a drive by shooting. I could not believe that the same young men that had been watching me had just filled a house with bullets. Perhaps one of the scariest and bizzare things I have ever experienced. It was crazy and I could not wait to get in the car and head to Palm Springs where all I would have to worry about was friendly seniors telling me stories about their grandchildren. Which reminds me of the the few days we spent there, but that is a blog for another day:)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRYAN!!!

We wish we would be there to help you celebrate. I hope you didn't have to work too hard at work today. We love you and miss you tons!

*Bryan is my brother in law by the way for those of you who didn't know who I was talking about.
So right before we were sitting down to supper last night I bit my tongue. I tend to bite my tongue a lot, but last night was a doozy. I chomped down good and hard and let me just say OUCH! I got it good and boy did it bleed. Fun times! I guess the lesson in my story is that you should try not to bite your tongue cause it hurts.

Avalanche v. Bruins

On Tuesday we went to the Bruins game as they were playing the Avs, my favorite team. We tried to get tickets through eBay, but the only ones we found that we could afford we ended up losing the auction. So I decided to look on craigslist on Monday, and sure enough, I found a guy selling his two season ticket seats to the game. Of course, its a little more sketchy doing a deal through craigslist as there is no rating system or feedback, so the tickets we got could've been fakes. But after talking to the guy, he seemed pretty legit, so we met him at the Braintree Mall to do the deal. Evey said she felt kind of dirty like we were doing a drug deal or something as we handed this guy money and he handed us an envelope...

So anyways, the tickets were fine. Our seats were quite close, in the corner to the left of the net that the Avalanche shot twice at:

As you can tell just from that pic, there were a ton of Avalanche fans there, which was nice to see. Here are a couple of pre-game skate and in-game action pics:

The game was great. The first two periods were full of action, but not a lot of scoring as it was 0-0 going into the third period. We scored early in the third and held on as well as scoring an empty-netter to seal the deal 2-0. My record in attending Avalanche games is now a perfect 3-0 with wins over Vancouver, New Jersey and now Boston. Evey had a much better time as 1) The team she was rooting for didn't get shut out, 2) Her ankle was significantly better and she didn't need crutches to get around the arena.

Happy Monday

I have no exciting stories to tell. I have not fallen out of any buses lately so I suppose that is a good thing. Chris and I had a pretty boring weekend, what else is new.

Friday we watch The Lake House, which I actually kinda liked. The storyline was kinda cool. Saturday we went out for breakfast and to the craft store for some scrapbooking stuff I needed. Sunday we lazed around and did nothing all day. We watched the Amazing Race and I was sad to see the Kentucky people David and Mary go home. Oh well!!

Have a great Monday and hopefully I will be back tomorrow with exciting stories for you all.

FAREWELL TO 94!!!

I know a lot of you have no clue what my title to this post means and I know a lot of you couldn't care less. Those of you who do know what I am talking about perhaps you feel the same sadness I do today.

As most of you know I am a very very passionate hockey fan. I love everything about the game of hockey. You also probably know that even more than being a passionate fan of the sport in general I am a passionate Oilers fan through and through. All the years of not making the playoffs and all the years of watching great players leave and I am still crazy about the Oilers and that will never change.

On August 9 1988 the Oilers traded "The Great One" Wayne Gretzky to the Los Angeles Kings. I was not old enough to really remember how it felt when that happened. What I do know is that a city was devastated by the loss of the greatest player to ever play the game of hockey. The Oilers did win one more Stanley cup in 1990 without Gretzky but it was essentially the beginning of the end of the "glory years" for the Oilers and their fans.

In 1994 the Oilers drafted a hockey player by the name of Ryan Smyth. Before 3 pm EST on Tuesday he was the the longest serving Oiler on the roster. For over 12 years he was the heart and soul of the Edmonton Oilers. He bled copper and blue and he gave his heart and soul to the team and the city every night. He doesn't score the prettiest goals but since when did how they go in matter? He is perhaps one of the best in the game at what he does on the ice. Not only was Smyth an Oiler and a great hockey player but he IS my favorite hockey player and that will not change.

I think back to what it felt like for me and all the other Oiler fans out there when we lost game 7 of the Stanley Cup final last year. It was heart wrenching. Such joy turned into devastation as we got to watch the Carolina Hurricanes parade around with the Stanley Cup. It was a crappy time to be an Oilers fan and the offseason and the way this current season has gone didn't help matters. And then Tuesday was the punch in the gut I never saw coming. The Oilers traded the face of their franchise Ryan Smyth in the final hour leading up to the NHL trade deadline because they couldn't agree on a contract extension and the Oilers didn't want to lose him for nothing as a free agent this summer.

I am shocked and I am sad. I will miss what he brings to the Oilers, I will miss his mullet but most of all I will just miss him being on the ice every night for my favorite team.

Before he boarded a plane yesterday headed for New York Ryan Smyth held a press conference at the Edmonton International Airport. It was hard to watch and the tears were a plenty. Ryan struggled through the press conference choking back tears and you could see his devastation and shock to be leaving. In the end it doesn't matter who was right or wrong or why they couldn't agree to an extension. No matter which way you slice it, the Oilers lost a great person and a great hockey player this week. It will be hard to see him wear anything but the Oil drop on his chest. One of the things he said in his press conference.......

"I'm going to go there and do my best to make the playoffs and win that cup so I can bring it down here to Edmonton because that's where my heart is." You gotta love the guy!!

The only good news for me is that he got traded to the New York Islanders and its only about a three hour drive. Chris and I will be heading to New York in late March to see him play in Long Island.

So farewell to Ryan Smyth the Edmonton Oiler. It will be weird to see him in anything but an Oilers uniform but the player Ryan Smyth is my favorite player not Ryan Smyth the Oiler. And it could have been worse he could have went to the Canucks, the Flames or the Red Wings.

Weekend Ramblings

When I got up this morning I went into the kitchen to turn the coffee pot on and when I looked outside I saw something I just didn't believe. It was this weird thing that I have heard about but had not really seen this year. I had heard about how pretty it is and how much of it so many other parts of the country were getting. I didn't know what to make of it. So of course I took a picture only to realize that what I was seeing out my very own window was a phenomenon they call SNOW!! I know I know, I am as shocked as the rest of you. It actually has kinda snowed here this year. But it never amounted to anything. The last time we were supposed to have a big "storm" it turned to slush and rain before it became anything more. So who knows how much it will snow or how long it will stay, but for now I will enjoy it.

I decided on Saturday that I wanted to get out and do a lot of walking to continue building up the strength in my ankle. We decided to go to IHOP for breakfast first. I was a little nervous about going since I am kind of on a diet. I refuse to call it a "diet" since it is really more I am counting my calories. Whatever it is I am doing it is working and I have lost 20 pounds since I started January 15th. And that includes losing 4 pounds during the 2 weeks I sat on my couch with my sprained ankle. Anyways at IHOP they had something called the "Garden Scramble" which is scrambled eggs (actually its an egg substitute) with green and red peppers, onions and tomatoes and 2 buttermilk pancakes with sugar free syrup. It was less than 600 calories and actually really good. I had never had an egg substitute before and I really didn't taste much of a difference. I love going out for breakfast and I was just happy there was a healthy alternative to what I would have ordered before.

We headed to the Braintree Mall afterwards and spent some time just walking around. We went to the pet store and spent a while looking at all the puppies. I could have spent all day in there. There were so many people and they were all smiling and laughing. That's what I love about puppies, whether its a big biker dude, a teenager, moms and dads etc they always make people smile. I love it. After Chris dragged me away we set out looking for a craft store of some sort so I could get some scrapbooking stuff I need. No such luck on that front, but Chris did end up getting a new pair of jeans. After the mall we did some more running around to a few other stores....Sports Authority, Kmart and Borders bookstore. When we were leaving Borders we noticed that some birds had made their home in the S of the Borders sign. I had a picture of it but for some reason blogger doesn't want to post it.

Did anyone watch the Oscars last night? I was actually pretty happy that all my choices for the main awards actually one. I was shocked (not in a bad way) that Jennifer Hudson won best supporting actress, good for her. And how about Martin Scorsese FINALLY winning. It was funny when he said "did you double check the envelope?" Although it would have been funnier if he had yelled "its about damn time!!!"

Anyways that was our weekend. Hope you all had a good one too!

Here is my ankle as of today. It is still sore when I walk up and down stairs, but all in all it is feeling pretty good. I am hoping after another week or so it will be back to normal.

Movin on up

Chris and I have moved up in the technology world. This past week we got rid of our dial up which I hated so much it made me want to throw my computer out the window at times. We got rid of our dial up and land line (since we both have cell phones now) and were looking around for high speed deals when Chris got a bright idea. Our landlords (who live upstairs) have wireless and we talked with them to see if we could share with them. Of course they said yes. Chris went out and bought a router for our computer and VOILA! I can now surf the internet and download things like a normal person. No more waiting 8 days for pictures do upload and no more waiting while it dials and connects everytime we want to go online. We will split the cost with them, and since they just switched to Verizon wireless it is only 19.99 for the first year. Sweet!! Wireless internet for only 10 bucks a month. I'm as happy as a pig in a mud puddle.

So I finally ventured back out into the world today. YAY me!! I went back to my doggies and then had lunch with a friend and did some shopping.

My ankle feels pretty good considering all the walking I did on it today. I imagine it may be a little sore later tonight but I know the more I walk and stuff the more it will get back to its normal strength.

I really have nothing exciting to blog about. But I am sure that in the coming days and weeks I will have all sorts of bus stories for ya:)

Here is a picture of my ankle on Friday. I will have Chris take a pic today when he gets home from work.

So I realize I have not been blogging very much. But in my defense what the heck would I blog about. I have left my house twice in the last 2 weeks. Once to go to the hockey game and once on Valentines day. My ankle is definitely feeling a lot better. Most of the bruising has gone away and the swelling is almost all gone. I still have some pain when I walk but I am sure it will get better the more I do it.

On Valentines day Chris and I went to Outback Steakhouse and it was so good. I had steak tips and he had prime rib. We also shared a piece of raspberry cheesecake for dessert! YUM! After supper we decided to go to a movie. We went to the see Music and Lyrics with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. Two of my favorite actors so I figured I would love it, and I did.

That is the extent of my excitement for the last few weeks. I think tomorrow I will be back to normal and back to my dogs. Thank God, I have been going crazy sitting around here.

Oh and people keep asking if those snowflakes were real. And YES they were. Chris took those pics right outside our door. We couldn't believe how incredibly detailed and beautiful they were either. God is good!!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

Well, we went to the game. My first Oilers game in a couple of years and we stunk up the joint. We got shut out 3-0 by the lowly Boston Bruins. While they are plagued with injuries right now, it's no excuse. They have to be better.

Aside from losing, Chris and I had a good time. We had never been to TD Banknorth Garden before and it has been a while since we have been to any NHL game. When we arrived at the arena we went to guest services to see if we could be put in some more accessible seats so I didn't have to make my way up and down any stairs with my crutches, or have to worry about people banging into my foot coming in and out of the aisle. They put us in the "wheelchair accessible" area right near where our original seats were. It worked out perfect, they just gave us a couple folding chairs and we had all the room in the world.

When we got home it started to snow (something that hasn't happened much this year) and so Chris went outside to take some pictures. He took some pics of the fresh flakes landing on our back porch and they turned out amazing. The clarity and detail of the flakes blew my mind. It was supposed to snow like crazy but it has turned into more of a rainy slushy mess outside.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day with your significant other. Chris and I are going to hit up the Outback Steakhouse for a nice meal and perhaps a movie afterwards.

Ankles and Hockey

So here is my foot pic from yesterday. It is definitely getting a lot better. There is still a lot of pain as of today but the swelling and bruising are going way down so that is always a good sign. Tonight Chris and I are going to see the Edmonton Oilers play the Boston Bruins here in Boston. I am SO excited!!! I have not been to an Oil game in quite sometime so I am super happy they are here in Boston tonight. The Oil have been having an up and down year and tonight is the start of a 7 game road trip that can make or break their season. Here's to hoping the Bruins will continue their poor play and losing ways tonight as the Oil try to climb back into a playoff spot. LETS GO OILERS!!!!!

I am a little nervous about maneuvering my way around the arena on crutches. Unless of course I can convince Chris to let me go without them...We shall see.....

You can tell the bruising is finally fading a bit and starting to turn yellow. Which is a good sign, I was starting to think I would have a purple and blue foot forever...lol
This is the picture took of my foot yesterday (Saturday). I know it may look the same as the previous one but if you look closely you can see subtle differences.

Yesterday

I forgot to post yesterdays foot photo:) So here ya go......

Friday, February 09, 2007

No picture for you guys yet today, I will be sure to have Chris take a pic when he gets home from work. I do however think it is starting to look somewhat better.

Now I know some of you are thinking 'WOW are you are you sure it is only sprained?' A few things I learned when I was at the hospital on Monday. A severe ankle sprain can sometimes be more severe and more painful than an actual break. The doctor was sure to tell me that a severe sprain can cause significant bruising of the whole foot. So rest easy my friends.....Sprained it is.

Day 4.....

The colors just keep getting prettier:)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUSTIN!!!

Today is my nephew Austin's 8th birthday. I cannot believe he is 8 years old already. I remember the day he was born and how excited I was to be an aunty for the first time. He is such a great little guy and I love him a lot. I sure wish I could be there to help celebrate his special day. Please go on over to Dave and Sue's blog HERE and wish Austin a happy birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Austin!! Uncle Chris and I love and miss you a lot!

Getting prettier by the day!!

Like how blue and puffy the top of my foot is?!?!
In the midst of all that went down on Monday I didn't get a chance to blog about our weekend. I don't really remember all that I was going to blog but I will give you the basics.

Friday night we went to see the U2 Laser Light show at The Museum of Science with our friends Georgette and Tyrone. U2 is my favorite band so I knew I would enjoy it. It was pretty cool, it was in the planetarium and was about an hour long. And for only 6.50 per person I thought it was a great bargain. Afterwards we headed over to the Cheesecake Factory for some dessert. I haven't had cheesecake like that in a long long time and it was SO good. I had the Godiva Chocolate cheesecake. Since I am counting my calories these days I only had half and saved the rest to pick at the next day. We had a great night.

Saturday we didn't do much but watch hockey and a movie. We watched the movie Click and we both quite enjoyed it. Sunday was another lazy day and of course the SuperBowl. THANK GOD the Chicago Bears didn't win.

Fast forward to Monday and well we all know what happened that day. It's so crazy, It happened so fast and I was SO embarrassed. The bus driver kept asking me if I wanted medical attention and I just wanted her to drive away so I could attempt to hobble my way home. We normally live a 2 or 3 minute walk from the bus stop but this time it took me at least 10 mins if not longer. I am sure I looked like a crazy person hobbling down the street talking to myself and cursing under my breath.

I never knew so much pain could come from a sprain. Then again I had no idea spraining meant tearing ligaments. I am going a little stir crazy sitting in bed or on the couch all day long since I am so used to being out and active all day long. Oh well, perhaps I should just enjoy the down time.

My ankle is looking even more colorful today than yesterday. I will be sure to have Chris take a picture when he gets home from work and post it. For right now though, it is back to the couch and ice for me.

The day after.....

Chris took this picture about an hour ago. A day later....it sure looks pretty!!

Diagnosis: Jacked Up Ankle

Real diagnosis? Grade II ankle sprain.

" An incomplete tear of a ligament, with moderate functional impairment."

So here's how the story goes: My wife was finished up walking her dogs for the day, and she took the bus home. At her bus stop, the door opened, and as she stepped out she stepped on a small patch of ice and rolled her left ankle pretty badly. She hobbled home, barely able to put any weight on it. She called me and I came home, and once I saw the golf ball sticking out of her ankle, we decided to go to the hospital to get it checked out. Luckily I still had my crutches from when I tore my meniscus...

So after we made it to Faulkner Hospital, we only had to wait about 30 minutes before we got into see the triage nurse. After that it was a quick trip to the Radiology lab to get x-rays, then we got taken back to a bed where the doctor reviewed the films and let us know that it was not broken (whew!) But it is severly sprained, so she can't put any weight on it, and the treatment is good old rest and ice. We got an aircast from the hospital to stabilize it once she can walk. She'll be out 1-2 weeks, but not on the IR.

Before you ask, she already contacted all of the owners of her dogs, and they'll be ok with her missing at least the rest of this week. So hopefully after this weekend, she'll get back to normal.

NO POOPING!!

I saw this near where I walk one of my dogs. How is that for creative for a no pooping sign! Too funny!

Thursday, February 01, 2007

First off.....Who was the geniuses who thought that this would be a good idea??

http://news.aol.com/topnews/articles/_a/two-charged-after-hoax-causes-terror/20070131182009990001

I mean really? In today's day and age who plants suspicious looking devices on bridges and subway stations and not expect people to think something is up? Apparently these "devices" are in other cities as well but there was not the same reaction as there was here. It is good to know however that the authorities and FBI etc are on top of things and reacted quickly. Sad however they had to all go out to deal with this in the first place.

I forgot to mention in my last post that while Chris and I were at Chili's Saturday night we saw The Golden Girls. First there was the lady who looked EXACTLY like Bea Arthur , she was sitting with her two friends who could have passed easily as Blanche and Rose. It was so funny!

Yesterday I was at Target doing some shopping. It was getting time to meet up with Chris so I was waiting near the front by the checkouts where I could watch for Chris coming in the main doors. As I was waiting I saw this cute little old lady in her winter coat and hat. She has a cane and was standing watching the entrance intently. After watching her for a while I finally saw this big smile form on her face, I turned to see what it was she was smiling at and walking towards her was a tall old man with his winter coat and hat on walking towards her. As he got closer he removed his hat (they way they did way back) and smiled back at her. When he reached her he grabbed her hand and kissed it and said "I am so glad to see you my dear, are you ready for our date?" And off they walked together hand in hand from Target into the mall. HOW STINKING CUTE is that? It totally made me smile.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Ours was pretty uneventful. On Saturday we did some Outlet shopping, that was fun. I got some new shoes and a few new shirts and Chris a few shirts. On the way home we stopped in at Chilis for supper. That was about the extent of our weekend excitement.

There are a few blogs I want to encourage you all to read, check in on and comment on once in a while:) First there is Dave and Sue (my big bro and his wife. They were slackers about their blog for a long time but then they got better and blogging more regular and blogging photos etc. But then their computer totally died this past few weeks so they are back to not being able to blog as often. BUT I think knowing they have readers who come by regularly they will make an effort to blog more.

http://www.theonlyfloydfamily.blogspot.com/

Then there is Andrea. She is my very good friend and married to my brother in law. She is a huge slacker. Don't tell her I told you but I think she thinks noone reads her blog so that's why she slacks off so much.

http://www.themacfam.blogspot.com/

And then there is my mother in law Linda. She is not a slacker, she is just not into the blogging business as much. But she does have a blog where from time to time she will post pictures, she takes such beautiful pictures andblog about her different traveling adventures.

http://lindamactravel.blogspot.com/

So please take a moment out of your day today and make a stop at these three blogs, tell them hello. Then add them to your favorites and make regular stops.

That is all, my work here is done.

I have been tagged......

I am usually horrible at doing these, but I have been tagged by Zoe so I thought I would give it a go:)

1) Get tagged
2) Post 5 things about yourself that aren't already mentioned in your blog
3) Tag other people that you would like to know more about

I think the reason I never do these is because I can never think of anything interesting. Here goes.....

1. I wouldn't say I am a closet Christina Aguilera fan, I just don't shout it out from the mountaintops. But YES I like her, I do not like all of her music or her songs but I think her voice is INCREDIBLE! I could listen to her sing her slower songs forever. And she is so good live, I love it. I think she is super talented, and you have to admit that in the last few years she has definitely cleaned her act up and is nowhere near the levels of skankiness she once was and that people such as Britney still displays.

2. I play the cornet/trumpet (most of you may know this) and I have since I was 7 years old. I do not play as much as I used to and I really really miss it.

3. I love to watch shows on A&E and those channels about criminal profiling, forensics and crime scene investigation etc. These fields have always interested me. And no I am not morbid I just find how they track people and figure out how their minds work and gather evidence etc to be very interesting and fascinating.

4. I am very much a girl and love the color pink, things like shopping, makeup, scrapbooking and gardening but I also love sports, on TV and live. I love to play fantasy hockey, football and baseball against all the boys and beat them:)

5. While hockey is my favorite sport and always will be, baseball has become my second favorite sport. When I met Chris I hated baseball and I hated the thought of watching a baseball game even more. Chris's mom (not Chris) single handedly turned me into the Seattle Mariners maniac I am today. Once I really learned about the game and that it is so much more than just hitting a ball I was hooked. And I cannot wait for baseball season to start. Win or lose I love the Mariners and will watch all 162 of their games over the long 6 month season.

Now I tag.......Pooky, Kirsten, Jenn and Andrea

As most of you know I am a dog person. I am not just the person who likes dogs, I love them. If I see someone walking down the street walking their dog I will go out of the way just to maybe get to pet it. Whenever I see a dog or puppy of any kind it makes me smile. I love all kinds of dogs....Big, small, fat, skinny, ugly or hairless. I do however have a pet peeve when it comes to little dogs....

Small yippy dogs drive me nuts. When I am walking a muscular Pitt/chow/lab mix and we encounter a little shitzue or whatever it was and the little thing starts snarling and baring its teeth it really irritates me. Why do owners let them behave in such a manner? Is it because they are small? If my dog acts like that she is punished and she knows she cannot get away with it. Why when the little dog is aggressive it is cute or because they are small they need to show they are tough. Yet when a bigger dog acts in such a way they are labeled as vicious.

Another thing I was thinking about today is how dogs are judged by their breed. Most of the people doing the judging have no knowledge of the breed they just base their opinions on what they see on the news etc. One of the dogs I walk is a Pitt mix. My own dog who is a lab mix has some Pitt in her. It makes me sad that society has been set in a way of thinking about breeds such as Pitt bulls without even really having the knowledge to make a fair judgment. There could be 20 dog attacks in the country and ONE could be by a Pitt bull and THAT is the one that will be reported. No one ever bothers reporting when its anything but a bigger "bully" breed of dog. I knew a family who's perfectly healthy golden retriever attacked their two children. But you don't hear about those stories on the news. I am not saying that everyone should love big breeds like Pitt bulls, German shepherds etc, I am just saying I wish more people would think twice before making the judgment and realize that dog attacks by ANY dog are usually caused by fear, parents leaving small children unsupervised with the family dog etc. ANY breed of dog can be trained to attack on command, sadly because Pitt bulls and other big muscular breed of dogs are trained sometimes to be this way people assume they are all that way. So think twice next time you are walking down the street and cross to the other side because you see someone walking towards you with a big dog and instead of assuming it will somehow eat you right there on the street maybe stop and ask the person what kind of dog it is and if its friendly.

I realize I may have opened a gigantic can of worms here. I hope you can realize this as my opinion and not turn the comment section of this post into an argument.

Oh and I almost got ran over 3 times today. People don't seem to get that when they have a red light and I am crossing the street they cannot go.

Wednesday, January 24, 2007

Ok I am sure you are all growing tired of my claims that I will blog everyday and I will visit your blogs everyday and that I will just stop being such a slacker. So this time, I will not say that. I will just blog and then be on my way to catch up on all of you:)

While we are on the topic of my sucky blogging, my friend Carly over at

http://queeniecarly.typepad.com/

and I have decided to challenge each other on this whole blogging daily thing. I have a feeling she may come out on top on this one. So to keep us blogging at least once daily we thought some sort of incentive is needed. If any of you have any ideas please shoot them our way. We need all the help we can get:)

When I got on the bus yesterday morning there was a young 20 something male sitting at the very front of the bus (you know the seats that are "priority seating") looking all cool in his jeans that are 10 times to big for him and his hat that is 10 times too big for him. As the bus continued down the rode and continued to fill up he kept sitting there looking like the cool guy he is. All this time he is taking up two seats, perhaps he had to because his pants were so freaking big they needed a seat all for themselves. Finally we get to another stop and THREE elderly people get on the bus. Nevermind the fact that nobody up front moved for them but HE continued to sit in those TWO seats like he didn't have a care in the world while Enid, Mabel and Cecil tried to hold on for dear life. I just don't get it, maybe it is the simple fact I live in Boston and most people here are just rude and don't give a crap about anyone else. I just thought everyone had the common knowledge and courtesy to know when its time to give up your seat and when it's not.

Also.....

Dear short lady on your cell phone with boiling coffee in your hand trying to balance yourself as the bus lurches to and fro while you continue to talk on your cell phone. IF YOU SPILL THAT HOT COFFEE ON ME I will be very very very upset. It's not a surfing nor a balance contest so SIT DOWN!!

She didn't spill the coffee on me, but she came close at least 3 times. What is wrong with people?

American Idol

While I am glad you all enjoyed my previous post, I am now afraid I have set the bar a little too high for myself. I am just not that funny on a regular basis, yesterday was just a good humor day for me. But I will do my best to rise to the occasion and keep you all coming back for more.

I am sad to report that I have no good bus stories for you today since Chris was my chauffeur for the day. Chris really didn't do anything super funny, he didn't soak in perfume and he certainly didn't have a spiderman touque on. Perhaps I should get him a spiderman touque though so that on days like today we will all have something to laugh at. I will see what I can do.

I am not the hugest American Idol fan. I don't have anything against the show it is just a show I have never watched from the first episode right through to the finale. I usually watch all the audition episodes at the beginning and then watch the finale. Usually all the in between stuff I will just keep up to date on through the internet.

The auditions never let down in their entertainment factor. While there are probably more than a few of those people who know they can't sing yet they still come on the show for the simple reason of getting on TV, there are those who are so unbelievably horrible it is sad. Not sad because they are horrible, but sad because they actually truly believe they are good. How does that happen really? Who tells these people they can sing? Is it a cruel joke they play so they can watch their friends or family member make a complete fool of themselves? Or is it more that they are just as stupid too and actually think that person can sing? While I do feel bad for them when the judges let them know they completely suck at the same time I don't feel bad for the simple reason that if you have ever seen the show you should be prepared for what could be said to you. My favorite auditions from the show so far this season are as follows....

1. The weird guy from Utah. There are no words to describe this guy. You really need to see his clip for yourselves. He sang Unchained Melody and when he was finished Simon said "It was almost non-human." And he was right, it was so bizarre.

2. Darwin and her mother. Darwin was just WEIRD. She looked weird and she talked weird. She was way on the creepy side. Her mother wasn't any better. They looked exactly the same except for hair color. And lets not forget she was not wearing a bra and her dancing around made me cringe. It was rather disturbing. Oh and how can I forget to mention the "novella" she wrote after being inspired by American Idol. She also pointed out how she thought she had a very sexy look. You be the judge.......3. Who will ever forget "Big Red" ?? I know I will never forget this, I have never laughed so hard at any other Idol audition. This was the best because the judges were crying they were laughing so hard, even Simon couldn't hold it in. He tried to sing the song Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and even boldy compared his singing ability to that of Freddy Mercury. 4. Then there was Jennifer who called herself "The Hotness." I am sorry, but she was WRONG in so many ways and on so many levels. She couldn't sing and she was just downright nasty. I still have shivers! **SHUDDER** As she was walking out she mumbled to Simon something about getting a report and giving himself a labotomy. lol. BIZARRE!!!! For some reason the pic of her didn't post. If you would like to see how hot she is please go here, she is picture number 3 of 508..... http://www.americanidol.com/photos/view/?set=112&seq=2

Please follow this link below and go and enjoy the recap for yourself from if you didn't get a chance to see these stellar performances.

http://www.americanidol.com/videos/view/?vid=497

And for all you people out there who think the American Idol judges are mean, get over it. People shouldn't go on there if they can't handle it. You know what the show is about before you go there. You know if you suck you will be made fun of. Get over it. It is nearly impossible not to laugh in some of those situations. I remember a long time ago at Music Camp one year when one girl who was completely tone deaf and could not sing AT ALL sang in the vocal competition. As soon as she started singing it took everything in me to hold in the laughter. Kirsten you might remember who I am talking about. It was so funny, poor thing.

Oh and on an unrelated note, Chris and I decided to switch over to the new blogger since all the cool kids are doing it. But we tried and we can't cause apparently our blog is too big. Oh well, I didn't really want to switch anyways.

Bus Drivers Part 2

Dear Mr Bus Driver:

When you see someone running to your bus stop and once reaching the bus stop they are waving to flag you down what do you think that means? I think it means that person wants to get on your bus. I would also think it means that you are SUPPOSED to stop to let that person on your bus instead of barreling down the street at 50 miles per hour. Mr. Bus Driver I am really starting not to like you.

Also.....

Dear 30 something male on the bus:

I know that it is cold outside but the spiderman touque is a little much for one your age....I'm just saying.

And finally....

Dear Lady sitting beside me on the subway:

Your perfume smells nice. However, I think actually soaking yourself and your clothing in it before you leave your house in the morning is a little much. Next time try just a few spritzes, I bet you will smell great and the person sitting next you will not have to choke.

BUS DRIVERS......

Why do bus drivers feel the need to jam the bus so full that you are like human sardines? You don't even need to hold on to anything if you are standing up because you are so jammed in there, there is no way you can fall over. Then the bus driver gets mad and yells at people to "move back" so he can let the next person on the bus and they have to be behind the yellow line. WHERE THE HECK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO MOVE TO?????? Then to top it all off he opens the door for about 3 seconds at your stop before he is off and going again. Meanwhile you have missed your stop because you aren't able to wade through all the people quick enough to get out the door in time.

STUPID BUS DRIVER....get another job sir.
Ok so clearly I am back to the whole sucky blogger thing. Everyday there are things I mean to blog but I forget and by that time it is too late. So now again I challenge myself to blog something everyday, even a picture. Lets see how I do this time around.

Question to all of you have turned to the dark side and switched to the new blogger.....does the spell check recognize the word blog or blogger or blogging or blogged?

I don't have anything exciting to tell you this morning. In fact I need to go get ready. There are doggies to be walked and poop to be scooped and someone has to do it;)

Happy Tuesday:)

LET'S GO HAWKS!!!

As you may (or should) know, our household lives and dies with the Hawks! We play the Bears in the Divisional Playoffs today, and WE WILL BREAK THEM. This time around, its a totally different game. We've got Shaun Alexander back, we've got Jerramy Stevens back, and our offensive line is jelling together at the right time. Our defense is a little banged up, but luckily, we're playing Rex "Head Case" Grossman today. Hopefully we can take advantage of some turnovers and RUN THE FOOTBALL. LET'S DO IT! GO HAWKS!

New World Record!

My wife has set a new world record!!! After speaking with Guiness Book of World Records, she is now officially the youngest person in the history of the world to use a pill reminder box! At 29, she shatters the previous record of Eunice Mabel Enid von Trelchingham, who was 87.

What a glorious day this is! She is basking in the glow of pill reminderness and looking forward to setting more records....maybe in the category of "Youngest person to take osteoporosis pills" or "Youngest to use Depends" (hopefully the former, not the latter...)

But seriously, my wife is horrible at taking pills. She always asks me, "did I take my pill today?" I'm like, "I have no idea!" Then she says, "I can't remember if I did or not." Then we go through the whole process of taking each individual pill out of the bottle and counting them while remembering when she took the missing ones. Great. Hopefully this pill reminder box will righten the ship...

Friday night Chris and I went to this new restaurant/pub we have been meaning to go to for quite some time called The British Beer Company. We went with our friends Becca and Travis and Georgette and Tyrone as kind of a birthday celebration for me. It was a pretty fun place, the food was good (I had fish and chips) and the beer was even better. They had over 150 different British beers. I had a Scottish beer from Edinburgh called John Courage and Chris stuck with his old favorite Newcastle. The setup of the place was pretty neat and really gave it the feel and look of an English pub. On weekends they have live bands. The band they had Friday was pretty good. They did a little bit of everything from Led Zeppelin to Jimi Hendrix to the Beatles.

Travis and Becca

It is Tyrone's dream to be in a Heineken commercial

Saturday night we went over to our friends Joy and Brian's to watch the Seahawks/Cowboys playoff game. They are from Texas and therefore Cowboys fans so we thought that it would be fun to watch it with them. It was a crazy game, both teams have really struggled this year so it was really a toss up as to who was going to be the better team. Neither team was all that great but a couple of crazy plays in the 4th quarter went in the Seahawks favor and we ended up pulling it out 21-20. Chris and I were pretty pumped. GO HAWKS! Next week they will face either the New Orleans Saints or the Chicago Bears. Personally I hope we play the Bears. The game was pretty boring for the first 3 quarters so we had to rely on entertainment from the dogs. They have a cocker spaniel named Jagger and were also taking care of our friends Amy and Troy's cocker spaniel Nettie.

Today we had lunch at Chili's with our friends John and Kelli. After that it was home to watch some football and clean the house.

I hope everyone had a great weekend:)

Blogger is being lame so I will post the rest of my pics under this post...

As I said in my previous post Chris and I went to Red Robin for supper last night. YUMMY!! I wish there was one closer. Knowing how much I hate having happy birthday sung to me in restaurants Chris has never been brave enough to have it done. Last night I guess he decided I was due for a good old rendition of happy birthday. I thought I was off the hook when we were done our meals and the waitress asked us if we wanted any desert and we said no. Next thing I know I turn to see her coming with a sundae and 5 people trailing behind her. I could have killed Chris, I was SO embarrassed. Even better was when she yelled "hey everyone today is Yvonne's birthday and she is turning 21", LOL! Their bday song was to the tune of the Flinstones, I couldn't tell you any of the words since I was too busy trying to figure out how to make myself disappear. Ha! Oh well, all was good and I got a free sundae out of it. The pictures below are of me while I was being sung to. Don't I look thrilled?!?!

Happy 2007 and Happy Birthday to......

ME!! Yup today is my birthday. Chris and I are going to go to Red Robin for supper since it is one of our fav restaurants and we never go because the closest one to us is an hour away. So I am excited about that. Friday night we will enjoy supper with a few friends. I am not one of those people who hates birthdays and is horrified about getting older so I welcome 29 and this coming year and what it will have in store for both Chris and myself. I am excited about my dog walking business continuing to grow, I am excited for the potential for movement there is for Chris in his job within the next year or so. I am excited for the possibility of moving by the end of next year. I am excited about the possibility of actually reaching my weight loss goals and feeling tons better about myself. There is so much I look forward to in this next year.

Dave and Sue sent our Christmas goodies a little late this year and we happened to get the box this morning, so that was kinda fun to get it on my birthday. Thank you for everything, you guys are awesome.

I hope you all had a very happy blessed holiday season. From us to you...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
